EDUCATION/VOLUNTEER SERVICES

2010 - 2011

The Education/Volunteer Services Program is aimed at increasing community understanding of
mental illness and issues impacting on mental health. In addition to community education it
offers a unique opportunity for clients and the general public to be an integral part of CMHA
through volunteer service and commitment.

Presentations and Workshops are provided on a variety of topics such as stress, depression,
schizophrenia, myths of mental illness, suicide awareness and an overview of agency and
community services. These presentations can be geared to professionals, family members or
the general public.

Information and referral is a service to assist individuals in obtaining information on mental
health or illnesses and support services appropriate to their needs.

Group Support includes the Family Mutual Support Group for family members who have
attended the Family Education Series and the Suicide Mutual Support Group for individuals
who have lost a loved one to death by suicide.
