Annual General Meeting

South Gate Centre  

June 15, 2010

 

Chair Brian Hadley called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm and welcomed everyone.

Joe Penton, Executive Director addressed everyone and announced that according to the by-laws we had achieved
quorum and the meeting had been announced publicly in the local newspapers within the required timeframe, and
invitations were sent to all current members at the time of mailing, therefore the meeting is official.


Ruth Robinson moved and Cris Dunbar seconded to accept the minutes of the 2009 Annual General Meeting as
printed. CARRIED.


Siobhan Murphy from BDO Canada presented the Auditors’ Report and asked for any questions. It was moved
by Mary Anne Siilverthorn and seconded by Dave Reburn to accept the Auditors’ Report for 2009/2010.
CARRIED.


Rose Nadalin moved and Tony Sheldon seconded to appoint BDO Canada as the auditors for 2010/2011.
CARRIED.


It was moved by Brian Crockett and seconded by Steve Martlew to accept the proposed changes to the by-laws as
amended. CARRIED.

It was moved by Gail Puddicombe and seconded by Shirley Hilton to accept the listed directors for nomination to
the Board of Directors for the year 2010/2011. CARRIED.

It was moved by Jodi Helps and seconded by Shirley Hanlon to accept the listed nominees for the officer positions
on the Board of Directors for the year 2010/2011. CARRIED.


It was moved by Edith Strader and seconded by Sheila Tunn to accept the Annual Report for 2009/2010.
CARRIED.


Joe Penton presented the Volunteer of the Year award to Fraser De La Plante.


Greetings were brought by: Ernie Hardeman, Member of Provincial Parliament, Warden Paul Holbrough, County
of Oxford, Mayor Stephen Molnar, Town of Tillsonburg, Mayor Don McKay, East Zorra Township, and Laura
Blancher from United Way. Brian Hadley read letters from Dave MacKenzie, Federal Member of Parliament,
Don and Karen Whitelaw, the Tillsonburg Multi-Service Centre and Lorne Zon from Canadian Mental Health
Association Ontario Division expressing their greetings and congratulations on the excellent service we provide.


Bob Fehir introduced Dick O’Brien as the guest speaker. Mr. O’Brien spoke on the need for compassion and a
compass. We should have absolute compassion for those with a mental illness and a compass to allow them to
direct or move on with their lives.


Brian Crockett thanked Dick O’Brien for speaking. He felt this was a time to reflect, renew and refocus.


Cindy Drake congratulated Joan Swiech for being recognized by CAMH for their Transforming Lives award.


A DVD was played that had been created by the Norwich High School students on the history of CMHA Oxford.
Brian Hadley gave closing comments. He thanked the original steering committee, past and present volunteers,
the 25th Anniversary Celebration Committee and the dignitaries and staff for all their hard work.


Joe Penton thanked all the past and present staff as well as all board members and volunteers for their years of
service.


Jodi Helps moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm. CARRIED.
