The Oxford County Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association is one organization in a group of agencies and individuals working in partnership on the Oxford County Mental Health & Addictions Network to identify and plan for county mental health services and resources; (see attached membership list and terms of reference for the committee). It is important for all of us to be aware of these partnerships. Efficient and appropriate service planning and provision involves the co-operation, flexibility and commitment of many people.
South West Local Health Integration Network
The South West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) is a crown agency responsible for the planning, integration, and funding of nearly 200 health service providers including CMHA-Oxford. Our Multi year accountability agreement with the LHIN can be accessed by clicking on the link on our Home page.
OXFORD
ACT TEAM
ACTT is the Assertive Community Treatment Team from Regional Mental Health Care, London . The ACT Team is a multi disciplinary community team with professional and clinical experience in supporting individuals with a serious mental illness. Their primary goal is to provide efficient and effective treatment, rehabilitation, and support services that enable individuals to lead successful and satisfying lives in the community of their choice.
The Team is co-located with CMHA-Oxford at their main office at 522 Peel Street in Woodstock . Referrals for community support usually initially come to CMHA and through the Community Disposition Group a determination is made regarding intensity of service needed. Individuals are directed either to CMHA or the ACT Team depending on needs. ACT staff participates in Community Education Events coordinated through CMHA.
OXFORD-ELGIN CHILD AND YOUTH CENTRE
OECYC is a children's mental health organization providing services to the community from offices based in Woodstock , Ingersoll and Tillsonburg. CMHA is working with OECYC in the provision of the 24-hour children's' emergency response system. Staff from OECYC is also involved on the Community Mental Health Education Committee.
WOODSTOCK GENERAL HOSPITAL
Woodstock General Hospital is the Schedule I Hospital for Oxford County , meaning they are the recognized psychiatric facility for residents of the county. They provide inpatient (17 bed unit) and outpatient psychiatric services for both adults and children.
Together with OECYC and CMHA-Oxford, Woodstock General Hospital is involved in planning for children's emergency services. Included in our partnership with WGH is the provision of a safe room at the hospital for crisis/community support workers to meet with individuals in distress. WGH is also one of our major referral sources for housing and case management and educational workshops. In addition to participation on the Oxford County Mental Health & Addictions Network, WGH is generally active with CMHA during Mental Health Awareness Week and Mental Illness Awareness Week activities. The outpatient medication clinic also participates in joint planning and provision of the annual Christmas Dinner/ Party and summer BBQ for clients.
ALEXANDRA HOSPITAL INGERSOLL
Alexandra Hospital has provided CMHA-Oxford with an office dedicated to CMHA Oxford staff. As with WGH, Alexandra Hospital makes a safe room available within the hospital for crisis/community support workers to meet with individuals, from the Ingersoll area, who are in distress. Alexandra Hospital is also represented on the Oxford County Mental Health & Addictions Network.
TILLSONBURG DISTRICT MEMORIAL
HOSPITAL
As with the other two county hospitals, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital provides a safe room for crisis/community support workers to meet with individuals in distress. Staff from TDMH also participant on the Oxford County Mental Health & Addictions Network.
OXFORD SELF HELP NETWORK
OSHN is the Mental Health Consumer driven initiative within Oxford County . With an office based in Woodstock members of OSHN are involved in joint planning with CMHA to provide annual mental health consumer events such as the Christmas party, BBQ, and educational presentations to members and CMHA clients. OSHN also offers drop-in and social recreation activities for consumers. OSHN is a partner with CMHA on the Oxford County Mental Health & Addictions Network and the Oxford Mental Health Education Committee.
OXFORD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH & EMERGENCY SERVICES
OCPH&ES participates on the Oxford County Mental Health & Addictions Network, the Children's Mental Health Services Planning Committee and the Oxford Mental Health Education Committee. CMHA also partners with the OCPH&ES for Mental Health Awareness Week and Mental Illness Awareness Week presentations as well as some Stress Management Presentations in Woodstock and Tillsonburg.
UNITED
WAY OF OXFORD
The United Way of Oxford provides funding for CMHA-Oxford's Education/Volunteer Services Program. In addition, United Way facilitates regular meetings to assist member agencies in promoting their activities. Member agencies are generally supportive of each other in promoting and/or participating in events or activities.
